Research & Innovation

At the cutting edge - grounded in reality.

We actively help shape the future: on sovereign European computing infrastructure, in European research programmes and in deep-tech projects. Anchored in strong academic networks - and always with an eye on the application.

Sovereign computing infrastructure

Access to the EuroHPC AI Factory on LUMI.

LUMI-G - Europe's AI supercomputer

We have access to the EuroHPC AI Factory on LUMI, the flagship supercomputer of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking - operated by the 11-country LUMI consortium at the CSC data centre in Kajaani, Finland. On the GPU partition (LUMI-G) we develop AI prototypes on sovereign European infrastructure. Data stays in Europe.

How we do research

Research that lands in practice.

European programmes

We engage in European research and funding programmes - and bring the results back into our clients' practice.

Academic anchoring

Close collaboration with universities and institutes, among them the Teknopark of Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi (Istanbul) and FINKI at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (Skopje).

Deep-tech & prototyping

Trying out new methods early - with our own AI hardware and access to European supercomputing infrastructure.

Why we do this

We give back - because we believe in Europe.

For us, research is more than innovation. In European projects - from Horizon Europe to Erasmus+ - we contribute what we've learned in the real economy: expertise, project management and delivery strength. Not as theory on paper, but as a contribution that lands.

Erasmus+ in particular stands for our social engagement: we share knowledge, qualify people and strengthen structures across borders. What we're good at should give something back to society - and make Europe a little more future-ready.

Through the Erasmus+ mobility programme we also come into direct contact with Europe's next generation - an exchange that gives us valuable inspiration in return. That's another reason we do this.

What we contribute to

Funding and research participations.

From active innovation networks to European calls for proposals - a selection of our participations.

European research proposals - Horizon Europe & Erasmus+

In the 2026 call round we took part in eight European research and innovation proposals - in three of them as coordinator. Each undertaking gets its own profile with project code, EU call link and consortium; AEGIS leads the way.

Our consortia reach up to leading European universities - such as KTH Stockholm and the University of Glasgow.

Future-Proof Big Data Training Modules

A funded Erasmus+ project under our coordination: together with L4Y Learning For Youth (Pirmasens) and the Hadımköy MTAL vocational school (Istanbul), we develop learning modules on Big Data, data literacy and AI - for young people in vocational education. Here we share what we can do in the real economy with Europe's education systems.

DiNa - Digital Sustainability in the ICT Mittelstand

A ZIM innovation network, funded under the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag. Xient participates as a network partner.

Out of this environment we contributed to the Green Coding Initiative - and have since adopted its findings and rules in all our implementation projects as a binding design guideline and coding standard.

Active · runs until 31 Aug 2026

Erasmus+ - social engagement

Alongside the European funding proposals, we engage in Erasmus+ projects with a social focus - education, participation and inclusion.

DEMTeDLIA - digital inclusion on the autism spectrumErasmus+ · Partner

An Erasmus+ project for digital literacy and coding skills for people on the autism spectrum. Over 29 months it builds tailored curricula, digital learning materials and a skills-recognition system - so that education becomes inclusive and both educators and learners are empowered. Xient takes part as a partner, EU-funded.

New MTSES - international school project (Aprilia)Erasmus+ · 2025
The international New MTSES team in Aprilia, Italy, with the project banner and an Erasmus+ flag

An Erasmus+ school project focused on digital education, completed in 2025 in Aprilia (Italy). We brought in knowledge from digitalisation and project work to strengthen international collaboration in education.

EMERGE - digital support for young mothersErasmus+

An Erasmus+ project with an art-based digital platform for the mental health of young mothers in Europe. Art, digital tools and advice come together into an offering meant to make people not only more productive, but also more balanced.

Work Without BordersErasmus+

An Erasmus+ youth project around work, digitalisation and participation across borders. We contribute consulting and digital expertise to give young people orientation in a changing world of work.

Research with us

What we bring to a consortium.

Many strong proposals fail not on the idea but on the gap between research and industrial reality. That's exactly the gap we close.

Industrial grounding

Real SAP, data and AI landscapes from the Mittelstand to DAX corporations - with realistic use cases, validation and pilot environments, not a lab without a connection.

Sovereign compute

We have access to the EuroHPC AI Factory on LUMI - GPU capacity for AI prototypes on sovereign European infrastructure.

Cross-border network

Research hubs in Istanbul and Skopje, anchored at YTÜ Teknopark and FINKI in Skopje - European reach across borders.

From idea to impact

We build exploitation and transfer in from the start - so results land in practice, not in a drawer.
