Junior Consultant (m/f/d) - Research & enterprise reality

About the role

You have a doctorate or are researching at doctoral level - and feel that pure academia leaves you too little reality? With us you don't have to choose. You keep one foot in research and stand with both feet in enterprise reality.

Concretely, this means two things. On the one hand, you contribute to European frontier topics - for example in our Horizon Europe projects, at the leading edge of data and AI. On the other, you bring that depth into real client projects, in one of our practice areas - such as strategy and transformation or SAP, data and AI. Research depth meets real projects - neither ivory tower nor assembly line.

In both worlds you bring the methodical rigour of science. If it suits you, you can grow over time into leading your own work packages and projects - desirable, but not a must from day one. Junior refers to the organisational entry, not to your ambition: your scientific depth is expressly welcome.

Your tasks

• Contribute to European research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe) - from concept to implementation on current data and AI topics.
• Bring your depth into real client projects, in one of our practice areas (such as strategy and transformation or SAP, data and AI).
• Work on work packages with scientific rigour and bring them to robust results - with the prospect of growing into a leading role if it suits you.
• Translate scientific method into practice: sharpen questions, make results robust and usable.
• Build bridges between research, business and technology.

Your profile

• Doctorate or doctorate in its final phase - ideally in computer science, a natural, engineering or quantitative economic science, but open to strong profiles.
• Experience in independent scientific work - and the openness to take on more responsibility in practice over time.
• Solid methodical and analytical strength; experience with data and ideally with AI/ML.
• Curiosity about consulting and delivery, and the willingness to start at junior level and grow quickly.
• Very good German and good English.

Location: Cologne region / Ruhr area, mostly remote. Scope: full-time. Start: as soon as possible.
