AEGIS - crisis intelligence from space

Coordinator Call: HORIZON-EUSPA-2026-SPACE-02-52 ↗ Proposal submitted · 2026 round

An AI-supported situational platform that links Copernicus Earth observation, EGNSS and drone data into a shared, real-time picture - so authorities can decide faster and more safely in a crisis.

What it's about

In a crisis, every minute counts - and every reliable piece of information. Floods, wildfires, industrial accidents: situational pictures today come from many sources that rarely fit together. AEGIS brings together what Europe already knows from space and from the ground. Copernicus Earth observation, precise EGNSS positioning and live drone data flow into a single, shared situational picture.

An explainable, human-supervised AI turns this into a basis for decisions that responders can trust. The real difficulty lies not in the data itself, but in making it interoperable, traceable and usable in real time across agencies and national borders.

What makes it special

Not yet another dashboard, but a shared operational truth - across organisations and borders. Explainable instead of a black box, with people in charge. Sovereign on European infrastructure, from Earth observation to analysis. And designed to carry beyond the crisis: into security, environmental and infrastructure protection.

Where it works

Pilots are planned in real municipalities: Rethymno (Greece), Ostend (Belgium) and the Koper region (Slovenia). Three places, three realities - and one shared aim: resilience you can see on the map.

What Xient brings

As coordinator, Xient leads the consortium - with exactly the discipline we know from large programmes: consortium leadership, work planning, partner steering and reporting that align partners from technology, law and public administration on a shared result. On the content side we bring our core:

  • Data & Analytics: integrating heterogeneous sources - satellite, positioning, sensors - into a robust, analysable data architecture.
  • Artificial intelligence: explainable, human-supervised models that translate situational pictures into a basis for decisions.
  • AI governance: traceability, clear responsibilities and European values as the foundation - precisely where trust decides whether something is used.

It's the same signature with which we guide companies through complex data and AI undertakings.

From research into your value creation

AEGIS is an EUSPA undertaking coordinated by Xient - and at the same time proof of how we connect data, AI and governance into sound decisions. That very capability is what we translate for companies: reliable data architecture, traceable AI and sovereign, European infrastructure on which sensitive data stays in Europe. From data strategy through responsible AI governance to cybersecurity, where situational pictures are especially worth protecting.
