Understand the data first, then migrate - an S/4HANA foundation at Audi
Most migration risks lie not in the new system, but in the old data. Those who know it early migrate safely.
The situation
Audi planned the move from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. Even in the analysis, critical weaknesses emerged - system breaks, missing end-to-end transparency and too loose a grip on data quality - that could jeopardise success.
How we helped
In a six-month project we laid the foundation: structured data-quality management, a fitting approach for master data (MDM), a sober tool assessment (including Talend, Informatica, Qlik) and a risk analysis of the existing BI solutions. The very first data profiling delivered solid insight into where the real risks lay.
What remained
The technical and strategic prerequisites for a successful S/4HANA introduction - with secured business operations, higher data quality and shorter time-to-insight. "Without the initial analysis, we wouldn't have realised how many risks were lurking in our data. That was the real starting point of our migration."
