Two worlds, one reporting - post-merger integration at Bayer and Monsanto
In a merger, it's not just systems that meet, but people, habits and tacit knowledge. That's exactly where success is decided.
The situation
After acquiring Monsanto, Bayer set out to merge the BI and information systems of both organisations. The difficulty lay less in the technology than in the human side: different cultures, decentralised responsibility and informal knowledge monopolies on both sides.
How we helped
Over ten months we established a consistent, globally prepared roll-out - with clear templates, roles and methods. We harmonised reporting and interface processes along proven best practices, and tight change management connected decentralised responsibility with central steering.
What remained
For the first time, the company had a shared approach to global information integration - a shared platform, unified governance, more transparency in reporting and measurable synergies. Two worlds became one.
