From email Excel to a reliable figure - power-plant cost-effectiveness at Innogy
When important decisions rest on email attachments, the problem isn't the technology - it's trust in the numbers.
The situation
Innogy SE assessed the cost-effectiveness of its district heating power plants using various Excel reports sent by email - time-consuming and error-prone. The decisive figures were things like electricity, water and gas consumption and material costs. This manual world was to give way to a reliable, automated one.
How we helped
We first formed a clear picture of the existing processes and the decisive figures. On that we built a solution from SAP BW/4HANA and the SAP Analytics Cloud, complemented by a simple web interface for direct entry of individual base values - carried by our experience with BW/4HANA, SAC and the migration of grown systems.
What remained
An automated analytics tool took the place of the manual reports: better data quality, less manual work, and a traceable assessment of cost-effectiveness that those responsible can rely on.
