From ten hours of Excel a week to real time - staffing planning at thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions

Ten hours a week in Excel - that's time urgently needed elsewhere in running a plant.

The situation

At the Neubeckum plant, thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions runs its own large-part manufacturing with around 150 employees. The plant manager planned staffing weekly with laboriously maintained Excel lists - a good ten hours of effort, error-prone and with data not always up to date.

How we helped

Our engineers and process experts first analysed the existing manual reporting - grounded in our experience in industrial manufacturing. On that we developed a modern SAP analytics solution with KPI visualisation based on SAP Business Warehouse. Design and implementation were done closely with the plant, supported by employee workshops and a hands-on go-live.

What remained

All factors previously captured by hand now flow automatically into planning - in real time, with pre-computed KPIs, filters and the right granularity. Instead of ten hours of Excel upkeep per week, staffing planning now has a fully automated, far more efficient real-time reporting.
