Reliable CO₂ figures for every shipment - automated instead of estimated

The situation

Bayer wanted to replace its previous CO₂ reporting, which relied laboriously on geodata and average values. What was needed was a solution that calculates emissions per shipment more precisely - across divisions and group companies, continuously and in real time.

How we helped

We built on EcoTransIT, the world's most widely used solution from the Fraunhofer Institute for automated emissions calculation, and developed services that pass shipment data and generate figures from it - from mode of transport, geo-coordinates, weight and fuel type. On top of that, our analytics consultants built an understandable data model and a clear dashboard.

What remained

The group now tracks the actual emissions of its shipments directly - granular down to intermediate stops and transport modes, with significantly higher accuracy and daily CO₂ reporting. Estimates became a verifiable basis for decisions.
