Investments under control - and ESG-ready: SAP IM at Birkenstock

Anyone who wants to invest wisely must know at all times where the money flows - and why. That clarity is what we created.

The situation

Birkenstock, with multiple production sites, planned and monitored its investments with SAP FI-IM - but the analysis ran via Excel: error-prone, time-consuming and not consistent across the company. What was needed was end-to-end reporting that maps the entire investment cycle.

How we helped

We mapped investment programmes and their dependent projects cleanly - with a hierarchical structure for traceable figures - and, above all, built out the investment master data in a structured way: investment reasons, time components, responsibilities.

What remained

Controlling gained maximum transparency and reliable analyses. The extended data structure also carries ESG reporting: investments can now be clearly classified as sustainable and reported in line with the EU taxonomy - an important step towards ESG compliance, from a single source.
